I have heard good things about HostGator that you recommend, though I haven’t used them. Linode is in a different league altogether, so can’t really be compared, though if all I really wanted was simple webhosting and I wasn’t technical I would look at something like that.

I spent ages looking for a decent, reliable web host. After much searching, I found a reasonably priced host with excellent plans and customer service (which you’ll probably need at some point). You can read my review of them by clicking the above link.

Thanks! Nice to know Linode is looking out for its reputation in blogs. I am thoroughly satisfied and while I’ve come and gone a few times, I have never once had a bad experience.

I’m not sure why you would have found this site in such a search. Linode doesn’t do free web based email, and neither do I. Hope it wasn’t the “nofollow free” link at the bottom. Of course, now that we’ve had this conversation I’ll probably get more hits.

For most people looking for free webmail, Google and Yahoo mail are probably the best there is.
