If the house phone was the only method of communication we had then I would definitely go back to paying $34/month plus fees for basic phone without caller id, voicemail, etc. I actually did get a quote for phone service just about as cheap as possible (message rate, 100 outgoing calls/month) and that&#039;s what I was quoted. There&#039;s no competition other than VoIP, and the local phone company (Verizon) bad talked VoIP every time I mentioned it during my call.

This is why my solution is VoIP, Cell Phones, and Email. VoIP ends up being around $12/month, two cell phones (daughter and wife) are about $15/month, my blackberry is paid for by work, and then Internet (where you have Skype, Magic Jack, etc). Even just the cell phone + VoIP solution is cheaper than a single metered phone line from Verizon.</description>
